On the server, please run the following commands and post your complete
console session -- prompts, commands entered, and output displayed:

$ freebsd-version

$ uname -a

$ service -e -v | grep ftp

Then on your client machine:

$ freebsd-version

$ uname -a

$ ftp -v <options and arguments as required>
